I

have been managing operations of the Biology Greenhouse Facility since 1995, arriving at Dalhousie with 12 years of related experience in horticultural advisory and landscape design. I initially attended Dalhousie in 1989, from my hometown of Campbellton, New Brunswick, where I studied Biology and Neuroscience. I continued my educational pursuits at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, where I specialized in Ornamental Horticultural Plant Science.
My duties as manager of the greenhouse facility include: propagating and maintaining plant material used in our biology classes and labs, coordinating the allocation of research space within the greenhouse, maintaining a diversity of plant collections, including; the Paul J. Brunelle cactus and succulent collection and acting as a resource person for plant related inquiries within the university and to the public. I also conduct educational tours of the greenhouse to members of the Dalhousie community and local plant clubs and societies.
My personal interests are rather diverse and keep me quite busy. I am a nationally certified Sommelier, Instructor & Director of Education for the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers and judge various wine competitions. I am an active Karate practitioner and currently hold the rank of Yondan (4th degree black belt) with the International Shotokan Karate Federation.  I have practiced various disciplines of yoga for 13 years and try to get on the golf course if time allows.
